For a Bargin Try Used Car Auctions

It's easy to find discounted car bargains at car auctions.  Not only can great deals on used cars be found there, but also some incredible higher model cars too..  Many people purchase cars this way either for themselves or to sell at a profit.  This pleasant experience, however, can quickly turn sour if you don't know a few things.

One possible problem is that the purchase might not be a good one.  Every car at an auction isn't a hidden gem.  Keep in mind that what you see at an auction is what you get.  Even children have been taught about “as is” through a television cartoon showing a guy buying a used car”.  As he inspects the car he asks a lot of questions to which the salesman always responds “as is”.  After the sale is final the buyer tries to drive the car, but the doors fall off and the engine explodes.  The unfortunate buyer shouts “I want the car as was!”  Don't be like that man.

Car auctions generally give potential buyers time to look over the cars.  If an auction won't do that, run.  Spend time at the facility before the auction begins.  Inspect and take a spin in the interesting autos.  If you don't know anything about cars, bring someone who does.  If that isn't possible, at least drive the car for an inspection during the test drive.  It doesn't take long to check key components like the engine and breaks.  Check other elements for damage.  This includes the body, upholstery, and bumpers .

Auctions also come with a built in problem.  Auctions can be a great deal, but the price could also be more than common retail.  It's no different at car auctions.  The car's value can be quickly eclipsed by excited bidding.  Add the fees often associated with the auction and it means great care must be taken to know the real value of a car.  Know the prices of similar models in similar conditions from Kelly Blue Book or other sales data.  Phones with Internet access can bring this info to your fingertips while attending.  It's pretty foolish to pay more for a car than it's worth even if it's an eye catcher.
